Mariette Hoitink graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts Arnhem in Fashion Design in 1989. Following this, Marietta gained extensive experience on a managerial level in creative and commercial positions within the fashion industry.

In 1997 Mariette became a fashion entrepreneur by setting up an international recruitment & consultancy company. HTNK is Amsterdam based with a global reach. Next to her core-business activities, Mariette works as an advisor for numerous fashion institutes. She is the initiator of Lichting (a show for the best fashion talent of The Netherlands) and member of the Creative Industry for the Amsterdam Economic Board. In 2009 Mariette co-initiated House of Denim and started Jean School. She is also co-founder of Amsterdam Denim Days and Denim City, the first denim innovation campus in the world. Her latest project is Global Denim Awards which pairs the worlds most innovative denim mills to emerging fashion designers.
